These terms govern your use of lumowatt.com (the "Site"), operated by LumoWatt ("LumoWatt," "we," "us"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

What LumoWatt is

LumoWatt is a directory and editorial resource for standby generator installers. We publish listings, license-verification information, and educational content for informational purposes. LumoWatt is not a contractor, does not perform installation work, and is not a party to any agreement between you and an installer you find through the Site.

License verification disclaimer

We check each listed installer's license status against public state licensing board records at the time of listing or renewal. This confirms that a license existed and was active as of that check — it does not guarantee the license remains active today, that the business carries insurance, or that any specific job will be performed competently. License status can change at any time. Before hiring any contractor, you should independently verify current licensing, insurance, and references, and check the relevant state licensing board directly.

Quote requests

When you submit a quote request, we forward your contact information and message to the installer(s) you selected (up to 3 per request). LumoWatt does not guarantee that any installer will respond, that pricing quoted will be accurate, or that the work will meet your expectations. Any agreement you reach with an installer is strictly between you and that installer.

Paid placement

Some listings pay for a "Verified" or "Featured" tier, which affects their visibility and placement on the Site. Paid placement does not affect whether a listing meets our license-verification standard, and it is not an endorsement of the quality of that business's work.

Accounts

If you claim a listing, you're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for the accuracy of the information you submit. We may suspend or remove an account or listing that we reasonably believe contains false information, violates these terms, or is fraudulent.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in a listing, claim, quote request, or correction request.
• Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract Site content or listing data without our written permission.
• Use the Site to send spam, unsolicited advertising, or malware to installers or other users.
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its underlying systems.
• Impersonate a business you don't own or aren't authorized to represent.

Intellectual property

The Site's design, text, and editorial content are owned by LumoWatt or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may view and share Site content for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from it without our written permission. Business listings remain the responsibility of the businesses that submitted them.

Disclaimers

THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT LISTED INSTALLERS ARE CURRENTLY LICENSED, INSURED, OR CAPABLE OF PERFORMING ANY SPECIFIC JOB, OR THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUMOWATT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR ANY INSTALLER YOU FOUND THROUGH IT — INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES RELATED TO THE QUALITY, SAFETY, OR COMPLETION OF ANY INSTALLATION WORK. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold LumoWatt harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these terms, or content you submit to the Site.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these terms or is otherwise harmful to the Site or other users.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law
