Maine's outage risk is driven by frequent Nor'easters, ice storms, and heavy wet-snow accumulation across its densely wooded rural landscape, plus Atlantic-remnant hurricane winds along the coast; Portland's coastal location sees storm-surge and wind-driven outages, Lewiston-Auburn's inland mill-town grid faces prolonged ice-storm line repairs, and Bangor's northern interior location adds harsher winter cold and longer restoration times after major storms.
