Georgia's outage risk varies by region: coastal Savannah faces direct hurricane and tropical storm landfalls plus storm-surge and flooding-driven outages each summer and fall, the Atlanta metro sees severe thunderstorm and occasional ice-storm outages tied to rapid growth pressure on the grid, and Columbus -- on the Alabama border along the Chattahoochee River -- sees a tornado-prone severe-convective-storm risk profile more typical of the Deep South's inland corridor than either the coast or the Piedmont.
